Captiva Island is Sanibel Island's neighbour and one of the most beautifully preserved and well-known areas on the Gulf Coast. Captiva’s beaches have been recognized as the country's most romantic, with its key features of abundant shells and its overall tranquillity. The main attraction on Captiva is that there are no attractions, only the pristine white sand, calm waters and the warm fresh air. Visitors can just totally relax, sunning, walking the beach, fishing, sailing or just doing nothing.

Fort Myers known as the "City of Palms" because of its palm-lined avenues is a hub of activity with its many shopping malls, restaurants and nightclubs offering respite from the nearby beaches and coastal islands. Attractions in Fort Myers include the Southwest Florida Museum of History, cruises operating from the downtown yacht basin, the Calusa Nature Center and the Planetarium. For the sports-minded, public golf courses and tennis courts offer some of the best playing turf in Florida.

Fort Myers Beach is where the action is; where you'll find a more typical beach lifestyle of sun tanning, tee shirt stores, great restaurants, and browsing in wonderful shops. The natural environment of the Fort Myers Beach area is a haven for visitors where you can experience the magnificent natural beauty of old Florida while taking advantage of the active and invigorating atmosphere. Fort Myers Beach is family oriented and affordable, and is the perfect spot for an exhilarating beach getaway!

North Fort Myers, home to the vintage Shell Factory & Nature Park which houses the world’s largest collection of shells and coral, is located north-west of Fort Myers along the banks of the Caloosahatchee River and offers the best of both city life and true southern living, that is to say, a ‘slow and easy’ ambience, with a mix of interesting shops and local restaurants. Recreational activities include superb white sandy beaches, swimming, fishing, boating, shelling, hiking and horseback riding.

Pine Island, a long island that is the largest on the west coast of Florida, is secluded and unique, holding tenaciously to its deep fishing and farming heritage, hides in the Intracoastal Waters off Cape Coral. Its low-key casual atmosphere is great for relaxing and exploring all that this “country waterfront” has to offer. Local shops and eateries specialize in fresh seafood served in a tropical island atmosphere. Sailing and boating is one of the most enjoyable activities on Pine Island.

Sanibel Island is connected to the mainland by a dazzling three-mile-long scenic drive across a causeway from the mainland. Sanibel Island is renowned as an unspoilt beach getaway offering visitors a delightful excuse to enjoy hours of sun-worshipping with its tropical island atmosphere and more than 200 varieties of shells littering the beaches. Sanibel's main street is Periwinkle Way, a picturesque, lush thoroughfare, where interesting shops, galleries, and restaurants dot the road.
